After more than a decade in education and years leading international student travel and service-learning experiences, I saw something powerful: experiencing education in another cultural context can change how we see our own classrooms.
My own work with educators in Uganda helped inspire Chalkboard Nomads. I created it to give teachers the opportunity to step beyond their classrooms, work alongside fellow educators, and return home with new ideas, relationships, and perspective.

Chalkboard Nomads is intentionally starting small. Our inaugural cohort brings together just 12 educators for one carefully designed 16-day program centered on our partnership with Mustard Seed Primary School in Bikurungu, Uganda.

Partner directly with founder Andrew Belzer for classroom immersion in Uganda.
Chalkboard Nomads facilitates partnerships with university education programs through our flagship 16-day Uganda educator residency. In collaboration with Mustard Seed Primary School in Bikurungu, Rukungiri District, we offer faculty and students a structured global immersion. Participants engage in co-teaching and instructional observations, earning documented professional development hours while integrating this impactful international experience into existing teacher preparation and study abroad curricula.
Faculty-Led Experiences: Bring a faculty member along as a co-leader or send students with our experienced on-ground team.
Experiential Learning: Students co-plan and co-teach real lessons in active international classrooms — not passive observation.
