Chalkboard Nomads is a short-term international classroom immersion program for educators and future teachers ready to teach beyond their borders. Applications are now open — 2027 cohorts are limited to 12 participants.
After more than a decade in the classroom and years leading international student travel and service learning trips across three continents, I saw something powerful: teachers who experience education in a different cultural context return home more inspired, more reflective, and more effective. Those experiences transformed my own teaching and showed me the power of global collaboration. Chalkboard Nomads was created to allow educators to step beyond the classroom they know, work alongside teachers around the world, and return with renewed purpose.

Embark on a unique professional journey with a small group of fellow teachers for a sixteen-day school immersion in Uganda, Peru, Ecuador, or Cambodia. Each cohort is strictly limited to 12 members to facilitate deep instructional exchange and tailored mentor support.

Chalkboard Nomads partners with university education departments to offer students and faculty a structured international classroom immersion experience. Participants observe and co-teach in real schools abroad, engage with local educators, and return with documented professional learning hours — all within a two-week program designed to complement your existing curriculum, internship, or study abroad framework.
Faculty-Led Experiences: Bring a faculty member along as a co-leader or send students with our experienced on-ground team.
Experiential Learning: Students co-plan and co-teach real lessons in active international classrooms — not passive observation.
Academic Integration: Program structure supports independent study, internship credit, capstone, or study abroad pathways.
